Woo! I’m 18!   Leave a comment

That means I’m legally (but not mentally) an adult. I get to vote and legally smoke! I also get to go to prison and I have to pay taxes. Fuck! I knew there was a catch. Oh well. I’m still awesome.

It’s Back…   1 comment

B&B

What’s back, you ask? Why, it’s Beavis And Butt-Head, silly! One of the greatest and funniest fucking animated shows of all time, Beavis And Butt-Head is getting all new episodes after a nearly 14 year hiatus with an episode titled “Werewolves Of Highland”, which is a Twilight parody, and “Crying”, in which Beavis cries after watching The Bachelor (although it’s actually an onion that makes Beavis cry, Butt-Head is convinced that Beavis cried because of watching The Bachelor) tonight at 10 on MTV. I can’t fucking wait. I’m recording it. And like someone on the internet said, it finally gives MTV a reason to start playing music videos again.

Life Lessons Learned From Video Games   Leave a comment

I know, totally original. Well, here we go.

It’s perfectly alright to break into people’s houses, break their stuff, and steal their shit.

If you’re hurt, just eat some food and you’ll be in perfect condition.

Capturing live animals and forcing them to fight each other for money and other awards while making them live in small technologically advanced balls is completely normal and totally acceptable.

The only way to kill a virus is to drop pills on it of the same color.

Murdering someone only gets you in jail for a day. Likewise, if you get blown up, fall from thousands of feet, get shot, drown, etc, a trip to the hospital will heal you.

Well, that’s it. Those are some things I learned from video games.

Fun With Search Engines (Stolen From Syd Lexia)   Leave a comment

Yeah, this was inspired by Syd Lexia’s “Fun With Search Engines,” or FWSE for short. In these, Syd makes fun of searches that lead people to the site, so I thought it would be fun to do the same thing. Now, I only have four searches, but whatever.

video game wordpress- Yes, I do blog about video games sometimes on WordPress.

games you can fuck people in- Oh great, I only have 50 something views and one of them was from someone who wanted to jack off to hentai games. On the second page of Google, it actually takes you to my “Fuck The People Who Want To Ban And Censor Video Games” post.

people want fuck video- Wow, another dude looking for porn, and once again, they found my ”Fuck The People Who Want To Ban And Censor Video Games” post. This time though, it was actually on the first page of Google. It’s the 7th result.

video games 2011 “leave a comment” – “log in”- What kind of fucking idiot would copy the “leave a comment” – “log in” part of whatever blog they were on? The “video games 2011″ part I could understand, but really? Are you fucking serious?

Well, there you have it. My first FWSE. Hopefully more people come to my site and I can make more Fun With Search Engines.

Well, Just Like I Said…   Leave a comment

I published all the articles from my old blog, retrogamingisbest.wordpress.com, onto my current blog. The reason is that when I made my site popcultureheaven.webs.com, I wanted to move all my articles onto my site. Why? Because, even though my first website was back in 2008, everything site and blog I made I gave up on and deleted. However, Retro Gaming Is Best was the first blog I truly paid attention to. I really thought that RGIB was going to be the website I stuck with and I stayed with it for over three months. However, I decided I wanted a website that was about more than video games, and thus I deleted the site and Pop Culture Heaven was born. Before deleting the blog, though, I wanted to save those articles because they were the beginning of my blogging. However, I only made one article and some forums, and then it was eight months of no activity, so guess what I did? I deleted Pop Culture Heaven, today. I brought my articles from RGIB over to here because of how important to me they are. And my article from PCH? It was a review of Yoshi’s Island. It wasn’t anything special, so I didn’t even bother bringing it to my blog. Anyways, you may be gone, but I’ll never forget you, RGIB. Without you, I wouldn’t be blogging.

1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die   Leave a comment

Originally Published November 13, 2010

Well, I saw this book at both Borders and Barnes and Noble, and I gotta say, it looks amazing. Yes, it contains games from the modern era, but it also has games from the 70′s, 80′s, and 90′s. I read a little bit of it and I love it.

I have seen criticism because people say you can’t name 1001 video games or that the title is wrong and that you you don’t have to play the games. All I have to say is shut the fuck up, internet crybabies! Obviously, there are at least 1001 games. Oh, and whining about the title is bullshit and immature. Obviously, you don’t literally have to play them before dying.

Well, now that my little rant is over, I have to say, I’m definitely getting it, because I love gaming and it seems like a great book that will no doubt introduce me to many games I’ve never even heard of. That is all. Peace out.

The Music Of Classic Gaming   Leave a comment

Originally Published October 11, 2010

Well, it’s been over a month since my last article, so I decided it’s time for a new one. This one is about good music from classic video games, and I hope to have this as a recurring feature. However, I am not going to go into detail about how it is made, or anything like that. I am simply going to post a video from YouTube with the song and give a brief summary of why I like it. Here we go:

Ahh, this is a great, cheerful theme. It fits with the rest of the game, and plus, it reminds me of that level where you get high, Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy.

The Dark World Overworld is from The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past. In my opinion, it is better then the normal Overworld theme, and it’s just an epic theme, and it’s one of the reasons ALTTP is a masterpiece.

I don’t know why, but I just love this song. I don’t know what it is, but you can’t hate this theme.

Fuck yeah! When I listen to this song, I want to beat someone up and then say “Finish Him”. How is it that a techno song is so badass and actually sounds like a fight song? I don’t know, but I like it.

Well, that’s my first TMOCG article, but I don’t think it’s my last. I will eventually do another one. That is all. Peace out.

How Old Does A Video Game Have To Be To Be Considered Classic?   Leave a comment

Originally Published September 1, 2010

You see, that’s a very interesting question, because no one seems to agree on an accepted “age” for a game to be retro. Well I am going to explore that with this article.

In my opinion, a game is classic when it’s 10 years old, so any game made on September 1st and before is classic. You may think that’s too young, but hey, some people consider Grand Theft Auto III a classic game. Just consider this: In 2008, people considered Ocarina Of Time a classic. In 2002, people probably considered A Link To The Past classic. And in 2001, I’m pretty sure people considered the original Sonic The Hedgehog a classic. Plus, 10, to me, just seems like a number that would be used in that way. I mean 1 decade, to me, sounds old, but that may be because I was six, almost seven, at the time.

So yeah, for me, ten is the age to be considered classic. I know some will disagree, but that’s just my opinion. That is all. Peace out.

Yoshi’s Island Communist?   Leave a comment

Originally Published August 29, 2010

Oh my God! I knew it! Nintendo is a Communist organization who’s using video games to spread Communism. Nah, I’m just messing. It’s probably just some weird coincidence. However, you gotta admit, the theme for Yoshi’s Island’s intro does sound eerily similar to the Soviet national anthem. Yeah, this is a random post not meant to be taken seriously at all. It’s just for fun. That is all. Peace out.
